Western Band Association Partners with BDPA

BD Performing Arts and Western Band Association are pleased to announce a newly formed partnership in 2018.

Starting immediately with the upcoming Fall marching band season, WBA will be managed by BDPA in all areas of strategy and operation, utilizing the resources of the Concord-based nonprofit organization. Justin Heimbecker, the CEO of BDPA, will serve concurrently as Executive Director of Western Bands Association.

President of WBA, Julie Bounds stated, "Having been intimately involved with the Association for the past several seasons, I believe this is an incredibly positive partnership. There exists an exciting synergy between WBA's mission, Justin's experience leading a marching band circuit, and the resources and mission of BDPA. I am excited to see where this partnership leads for everyone involved."

WBA has served marching bands for nearly forty years, and currently sanctions and manages approximately twenty events, serving 110 bands annually in the western United States.

BDPA celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2017 and operates several programs and initiatives, including the 18-time DCI World Champion Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps. According to Heimbecker, "This opportunity particularly draws on my experience leading a national marching band circuit. BDPA will provide a unique level of comprehensive support to WBA, including infrastructure, event planning and management, and educational resources."

Heimbecker continued, "Everything we do at BDPA is completely student-focused, and this initiative will be no different. As our organization moves into the future, we believe our responsibility is not only to our own students in existing BDPA programs, but to support music educators in their quest for excellence in a scholastic environment. We can't wait to get started."

Heimbecker and WBA Executive Board representatives will be visiting three California regions later this month for Town Hall Meetings, to discuss the relationship and the vision for the partnership. All WBA directors are encouraged to attend. Info and RSVP below:
